Meeting my auntie for the first time: Pamela Young

Pamela Young and her two sisters were taken from their mother. As a young adult she met her mother’s sister and found recognition and family. Raised to be ashamed of her Aboriginality and told she would never achieve anything, it was meetings such as this and the protection and teaching of the La Perouse community who took her in and the elders at the AMS, that gave her an identity and pride: "They taught me how to be Aboriginal.”
