Relocation of Aborigines to Purfleet near Taree. The number of Aboriginal people living on the government reserve at Purfleet increases dramatically during the 1930s. Under the 1932 amendment to the 1909 Act, the APB seeks to “concentrate in reserves, people of Aboriginal blood with definite control over them”. The population of Purfleet reserve grows daily. By 1936, 250 live there (up from 78 in 1903) (Memorial to Darkinjung at Wollombi Museum; Ramsland, The Aboriginal School at Purfleet, 2006).
