The traditional clan and tribal structure of Hawkesbury Aborigines is significantly reduced

1850c The traditional clan and tribal structure of Hawkesbury Aborigines is significantly reduced. Many of the old tribespeople band together with the “new” Aborigines to live in close proximity in the Hawkesbury. They are determined to retain their identity. The largest concentrations of Aborigines in the Sydney region include Sackville Reach and La Perouse. On the outer fringes, small family bands congregate at Singleton in the Hunter Valley.
