Growing up in the inner city: Cindy Berwick
Auntie Cindy Berwick spent her early years in Paddington in extreme poverty. Her mother died when she was young and her father was an alcoholic so she was sent to live with her aunty and uncle and began to go to attend school for the first time. Her uncle believed education was the only way out of poverty and she went on to become a teacher, beginning her career at Cleveland St High School in Redfern.
