Scotland Island

Biddy Lewis, daughter of Matora, settled a hectare of land on Marramarra creek, near Brooklyn. In the 1840s one of her children, Catherine, married Joseph Benns and took up residence on Scotland Island, Pittwater. Catherine became known as the ‘Queen of Scotland Island’, and also became a famous midwife.
