1850c Hiram uses iron tomahawk to carve onto flat mass of Hawkesbury riverbank sandstone near Wilberforce a lifesize image of white man going into bush to cut timber carrying axe over his shoulder. Using new technology, Hiram introduces new symbols into ancient cultural practices.
