The Auntie Joan Cooper Bridge, Katoomba: Carol Cooper

It was not until the year that he died that Auntie Carol Cooper’s father was recognised by the RSL for his role as a soldier in WWII. He marched once in an ANZAC day parade but was told to be at the back the next year. After his death in 1978 Carol’s mother sold badges for Legacy and became the highest seller in NSW. After her death the Blue Mountains City Council recognised her contribution by naming the Auntie Joan Cooper Bridge after her.
