Biddy Giles of Mill Creek: Heather Goodall
Historian, Heather Goodall describes how on Mill Creek (near Lucas Heights and Holsworthy Military Range), early settlers set up subsistence farms, with goats and perhaps citrus orchards. Biddy Giles supported them as they tried to make a living by supplying them with native foods. The farm was abandoned by 1880 due, local geographer, Robert Haworth believes, to a slight rise in sea levels which made the soil too saline.
