Local food in La Perouse: Shirley Murphy and Pam Koeneman
Shirley Murphy and Pam Koeneman share stories of getting food where they could in La Perouse. There were bush foods and the local grocer who threw out rotting fruit that Shirley scavenged. Pam remembers gathering oysters, all gone now, “stripped”, and getting fish from local fishermen. Shirley recalls how a lot of Aboriginal names used to be used for the fish and octopus.
