Holsworthy Site
The area known as the Holsworthy Army Base has been a restricted military zone since 1912 and sits on the land protected by the Tharawal Local Aboriginal Land Council. Due to the fact that all outsiders have been prohibited this land contains artwork, archaeological sites, scarred trees and artefacts. More than 500 Aboriginal sites exist within this restricted area. In 1998 this area was successfully claimed by the Dharawal people as a National Estate.
